FrequentlyAskedQuestions

What does my child need to wear to dance class?

Each class is required to wear a class uniform. This class uniform will be worn throughout the year in dance class as well as for our January open house. Class uniforms will also be worn and embellished for our spring recital. Upon receipt of your registration form, we will mail you an orientation packet that will include our studio dress code.

Where can I purchase dance clothes and shoes for my child?

You may purchase your dancer’s clothes through Jandi Utzman at the 1 Stop Dancin’ Boutique (334-3124) at 105 N Grand, or you may purchase your items directly online.

My child does not want to be a professional dancer. Is your school a good choice?

Absolutely! At Sears Academy of Dance, we focus on building strength, flexibility and technique as a foundation for healthy living . We do not “push” students into becoming professional dancers, yet the technique learned in our dance classes are a solid foundation from which students may choose to build professional careers in performing arts.

Can I try a class without registering first?

Yes! As long as a class is not full, anyone is welcome to participate as a guest. Please see Ana Maria to determine which dance classes are available for guest participation.

Are you closed on holidays? If so, which ones?

Yes. We are closed for most holidays. We dance three weeks on and one week off every month. Please see our Dance Days Calendar 2008-2009 for more details.

What makes your Dance Academy unique?

There are three things that make us unique:

  1. Consistently Great Product
  2. Lowest Tuition
  3. Great New Central Location

At Sears Academy of Dance, we feel we offer the perfect combination of dance technique, discipline and FUN! With over twenty seven years of dance experience, Ana Maria teaches every one of her classes personally. This allows for a consistent, high-quality product. Each child is treated like a superstar no matter what their ability, and no student is ever yelled at or made feel inadequate. Your child will never be left in the hands of teenagers or inexperienced teachers, but will be encouraged and motivated in a way that Ana Maria would see fit for her own four children.

We offer the lowest tuition in town and are centrally located within one mile of shopping, dining and fitness facilities. We have access to ample, near-by parking. Parents are welcome to view dance class in our convenient and spacious sitting area.

During periods of bad weather, how do I find out if the school is open?

If a dance class is cancelled, you may call our voice messaging system which will have a message regarding school closures if there are any. We will be closed any time the Pullman School District cancels school due to inclement weather.

When are my payments due?

Tuition is due the first dance day of the month and may be placed in the zebra-lined tuition box at the studio, or may be mailed to 745 N Grand Avenue Suite 105 Pullman, Washington 99163.

My child has assumed too many activities and needs to drop classes. Can we receive a refund?

Tuition is non-refundable, but we will keep a credit on your account for future dance classes.

I would like to volunteer in your classroom dance leasons. Do you need volunteers?

We have plenty of volunteer opportunities outside the dance room. Please see Ana Maria at 509-338-0800 or anamaria@searsdance.com for more information!

What kinds of fees and expenses outside of tuition can I expect?

Each dancer is required to purchase a specific set of dance clothes and shoes for class. These clothes and shoes will be used all year long in class as well as for performances.

There is an annual registration fee of $15 per family and a recital fee of $15 per family due with April’s tuition. Class “soundracks” are available for purchase in November for $5.
